About
Kristin is a native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and moved to Virginia in 1997 after she completed law school. She is married to Frank Wright, also an attorney at the firm. They have two college-age sons at the University of Virginia and Auburn University, which means she gets to have a single, blue and orange, supportive wardrobe.
Kistin and Frank enjoy traveling, movies, and spoiling their lovable pet beagle, named Indiana Jones.
Kristin is a member of the Virginia State Bar, Virginia Bar Association, Lynchburg Bar Association, and the Campbell County Bar Association. She is an inactive member of the District of Columbia Bar. Kristin is a past faculty member for the Virginia State Bar Association’s Professionalism Course and a past member of the board of the Lynchburg Bar Association.
Experience
Kristin spent eight years of her career at Overbey, Hawkins, Wright & Vance, working primarily in the domestic areas of divorce, custody, guardian ad litem, child support, and criminal defense in domestic matters. She also has a wide-ranging experience in many fields, having worked as a federal clerk for the bankruptcy court, as an associate in a large Washington firm on insurance defense, and fifteen years as in-house civil counsel for Campbell County, where she handled everything from zoning and land use to employment and code enforcement.
Kristin has been lead counsel on a number of reported federal cases, mostly involving constitutional rights, where she represented local governments, departments of social services, authorities, and constitutional officers and police.
Education
Kristin graduated with a B.A. with honors from Michigan State University, with double majors in History and Spanish. She has her J.D. from the University of Michigan (1997), where she was active in first-year orientation programs and alumni outreach.
Practice
Kristin concentrates now on her domestic practice and is available for consultations for any matter in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, civil or criminal, as well as divorce, custody, support, guardianship and conservatorship for people with a disability, and any related matters.
